Trek the Himalayan Kingdom

The Himalaya is the world’s mightiest mountain system, containing nine of Earth’s ten highest peaks and stretching more than 2,500kms across India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and Pakistan. Long associated with great adventurers and mountaineers, this is a place like no other: remote, majestic and romantic.

Head to Nepal’s Annapurna region for a classic trek through lush foothills and Hindu villages; or walk among rhododendron forests, fluttering prayer flags and iconic peaks as you trek towards Mount Everest base camp.

Our Program

Day 01 Arrive Katmandu

Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon our representative will accompany you on a city sightseeing tour of the city. Visit the Durbar Square, the highest concentration of palaces and temples are here. Overlooking the Durbar Square is the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, which means the “gate of the Monkey God”. Nearby is the Temple of Kumari, the abode of the Living Goddess. Swayambhunath, the great stupa (Eye of the Buddha) which stands atop a green hillock This Buddhist stupa is said to be 2000 years old. This is one of the best places to view the Kathmandu city as it is situated on a small hillock. Drive back to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 02 Katmandu

After breakfast, our representative will take you on an excursion to Bhadgaon, Pashupatinath, Bodhnath & Patan. Bhadgaon was founded in 889 AD by King Ananda Deva. The city was constructed in the shape of a conch shell-an object of religious significance to Hindus and Buddhists. Pashupatinath temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Destroyer, and Creator and is one of the four most important pilgrimage sites. Continue to Bodhnath to see the largest stupa in all of Nepal. Proceed to the adjacent town of Patan. The “City of Beauty and Fine Art,” its origins date back to 289 and 299 AD. Return to your hotel and later this evening enjoys a presentation of Nepalese folk dances with dinner. Overnight is at the hotel.

Day 03 Katmandu – Pokhara

After breaskfast you will be driven to the airport for your flight to Pokh ara. Pokhara is situated at a height of 2,713 feet. Your journey begins with a short flight to Pokhara, and it is nothing short of spectacular. Situated a hundred miles west of Kathmandu, our route shadows the Himalayan Range. If the weather is clear, you’ll see the looming peaks of Annapurna. As you land in Pokhara, look northwest to see Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna’s, with all their satellite peaks. (Please note: air transportation within Nepal can be somewhat unreliable and is subject to delay or cancellation. If you encounter a problem with the flight schedule, road transportation will be arranged.) Upon arrival at Pokhara, you will be met and transferre d to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 04 Pokhara – Lumle - Birethanti – 2 hours trek

After a relaxing breakfast, you’ll be transferred (along with our guides and porters) by road to the starting point of your trek (about 1-hour trek). From the Guru ng village of Lumle, follow a lovely, stone-paved trail that meanders through terraced fields and small farming communities. A packed lunch will be provided during this initial hike.Today’s walk follows the contour of the ridgeline in the lower foothills of the Annapurnas with views of the Pokhara Valley in the distance. Once you reach the village of Chandrakot (5,200 feet), the trail turns north and heads deeper into the mountains. Soon you drop precipitously into the Modi River Valley, where the lovely Sanctuary Lodge (your first night’s accommodation) is located. The lodge enjoys magnificent views of the sacred and unclimbed Fishtail Mountain (or Machhapuchare, as it is locally known). Dinner & overnight at the lodge

Day 05 Birethanti – Ghandruk (6,600 feet) - 5 hours trek

After breakfast at the lodge, you depart the Sanctuary Lodge and walk up the Modi Khola Valley through outlying farms. Soon you begin to climb out of the valley & up towards the mountains. Lunch is a picnic en route with spectacular views of the surrounding valleys. The trail passes through small hamlets, terraced rice fields, and forests. By mid-afternoon, on you arrive at the Himalayan Lodge in Ghandruk. Ghandruk enjoys magnificent close up views of the surrounding mountains, and the village itself is also quite interesting to explore. The women of Ghandruk maintain a local industry of weaving traditional Nepalese rugs. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 06 Ghandruk

You wake up this morning with breakfast served on the terrace garden as you enjoy the spectacular sunrise over Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, Gangapuri and the Fishtail. After a leisurely morning enjoying the glorious views and exploring the mountain village of Ghandruk, you’ll head out with our guides to explore the surrounding countryside. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 07 Ghandruk – Majgaun (4,750 feet) – 5 hours trek

Have your breakfast at the lodge and start your trek. You descent to the Modi Khola (river) following a different trail than we used coming up valley. Your hike begins with a stroll down the steep alleyways that comprise Ghandruk’s main thoroughfares, eventually passing into a region of steep terraces. About half-way down to the river you pass through the village of Kim he. After about three hours you reach the village of Lamakhet, where you’ll stop for a picnic lunch by the banks of the river. After lunch, you cross the Modi river and begin the long climb to our Lodge. The uphill trek takes about two hours and passes through the villages of Patlekhet and Majgaun. The Gurung Lodge sits on a ridge that commands a sweeping view of the Modi Khola. It was built along the lines of a traditional Nepalese village, and every room enjoys spectacular views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 08 Majgaun – Dhampus (5,000 feet) – 4 hours trek

After breakfast at the lodge, you trek to Dhampus. Trek through the picturesque village of Tanchok. The trail then climbs through old-growth sub-tropical forests filled with rhododendrons, orchids, and magnolias. Birdlife is quite profuse in this section of the trail. You cross a ridge at the village of Pothana, where many Tibetan traders have settled. You reach Basanta Lodge in time for lunch. From the terrace of this lodge, you’ll get some of the most expansive views of the entire Annapurna range (weather permitting). After lunch, you can enjoy an optional hike to the old village of Dhampus. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 09 Dhampus – Phedi – Pokhra (3,300 feet) – 90 minutes trek & 1 hour drive

Today is the last day of the trek, which starts after breakfast at the lodge. On this, the last day of the trek, your trail descends to the village of Phedi, where you’ll be met by our vehicles to transfer back to Pokhara. The remainder of the day is free to explore on your own. You can go down to Phewa Tal, to enjoy a stroll along the shores of the lake. With its myriad shops and restaurants, it’s a great place to stock up on souvenirs. You can also rent a small rowboat to venture out onto the lake itself. Or, you can simply relax at the lodge as you bask in the amazing views of the Annapurnas directly to the north. Overnight at hotel

Day 10 Pokhara – Chitwan National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Chitwan National Park, which is located at a distance of 180 km and will take approx 4 hrs to reach. Upon arrival, you will check into your Jungle camp. Lunch is served at the camp dining halls. You visit the elephant camp to learn about these wonderful creatures who will take you on a game – viewing safari around dusk and/or tomorrow morning. Dinner at the Jungle Camp is served in a central building with a well-stocked bar. Dinner & overnight at the camp

DAY 11 Chitwan National Park

Early morning, you are off on a game-viewing safari on elephant back through the towering grasslands of the park. The elusive Royal Bengal tiger, leopard, the rare Indian one-horned rhino, gaur, four kinds of deer, two species of monkey, two types of crocodile and 450 different birds live in the park. Once almost extinct, the Royal Bengal Tiger is a protected species here. Return to the camp for breakfast. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the surrounding on your own. After lunch some more game-sightings Though seeing the nocturnal Bengal tiger is always rare, several tiger sightings have taken place on the veranda at Tented Camp. Dinner & overnight at the camp

Day 12 Chitwan National Park – Tharu Village

In the morning there is a possibility of another elephant back safari or a boat ride or nature walk with a resident naturalist. Return to camp for breakfast and later board canoes to cross the Narayani River to the Tharu Village. Upon arrival at Tharu Village, you check in at huts followed by lunch. A comfortable lodge designed like the longhouse of the Tharu people. The original inhabitants of the Terai, the Tharus, were the only group that built up a natural immunity to malaria and thus survived. They are primarily farmers and herders. Activities at the village may include a visit to the Tharu village and school, jungle safaris, horseback riding, or just relaxing by the pool. An evening talk on Tharu culture is followed by local dances and songs. Dinner & overnight at the camp

Day 13 Tharu Village – Bharatpur – Katmandu

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the small airfield at Bharatpur for your flight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure for pursuing independent activities. Overnight is at the hotel.

Day 14 Katmandu / Onward Flight

After breakfast, you will be escorted to the airport for flight to onward destination.
