GRAND TOUR OF INDIA


The all encompassing Grand Tour of India takes in the highlights of both Northern and Southern India. On this 18 day holiday you uncover the delights of India’s famed Golden Triangle – Delhi, Agra and Jaipur before moving westward deeper into Rajasthan to Udaipur, the city of Lakes. From there you take a flight to Kerala for a completely different experience of the harbour life of Kochi, the picturesque hill station of Munnar, sleepy laid back Kumarakom and enjoying a night aboard the famed Kerala houseboats.

OUR PROGRAM



Day 01 - ARRIVE DELHI

Late evening: On arrival by your international flight, meet and greet at the airport by our representative and transfer to hotel for immediate check in.

Day 02 - IN DELHI

After a relaxed breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi visiting the Red Fort, Jama Masjid mosque and the bazaars of Chandni Chowk on a cycle rickshaw. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of New Delhi, designed by the eminent Sir Edward Lutyens. Drive past the India Gate, Rajpath and bustling Connaught Place. A visit is also made to Qutab Minar, essentially a massive tower built to proclaim the arrival of Islam in the 11th century, Humayun’s tomb which is considered to be the precursor to Taj Mahal and a carpet emporium.

Day 03 - DELHI / AGRA

After a relaxed breakfast you will drive to Agra (4 hrs) and on arrival, our representative will assist you at the time of check in. Rest of the day is at leisure. You have the option of taking one of our out of the box experience tour - Mohabbat-E-Taj (Love of Taj) or a Mughal Heritage walking tour.

Day 04 - IN AGRA

Early in the morning your guide will pick you up for the most awaited visit to the world famous and one of the seven wonders of the world - TAJ MAHAL. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder! Probably for Taj Mahal, the axiom is just the other way round. The Taj is the beauty personified! The Taj displays its different moods through its varied shades. The Taj has as many shades as any kind of beauty can ever have! It is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening, golden when the moon shines and the intermediary variants during different hours of the day and during different seasons in a year.

 

Return back to hotel for breakfast. Later visit the Agra Fort built by four generation of Mughal Emperors who occupied this fort as their capital city. Visit the Diwan-E-Aam (public audience) and Diwan-E-khas (private audience) along with the residential quarters and Musamman Burj where Emperor Shah Jehan was held captive during his last days by his son Aurangazeb.

 

Afternoon free to visit an emporium to check out some marble artifacts.

Day 05 - AGRA / RANTHAMBHORE

After an early breakfast drive South West towards Ranthambhore (5 hrs), one of the national parks. On the way visit the deserted city also called the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri. Worth visiting is the tomb of Saint Salimuddin Chisti. On arrival in Ranthambhore, check in at a jungle resort. Rest of the day is at leisure (you have the option of visiting Tribal women help centre).

Day 06 - IN RANTHAMBHORE

Today you will be enjoying two game rides in the park. Under the Project Tiger, this park remains the last refuge of the Royal Bengal tiger. Catch a glimpse of the king of the jungle. This natural habitat is also home to other predators, gazelles, antelopes, wild dogs, wild boars, reptiles, birds and wide varieties of trees and plants.

Day 07 - RANTHAMBHORE / JAIPUR

Today morning after a relaxed breakfast drive to Jaipur (4 hrs) and on arrival, assistance at the time of check in at the hotel. Rest of the day for independent activities. Game for a walking tour of the city or watching a bollywood movie at the famous Raj Mandir theatre? We can arrange it.

Day 08 - IN JAIPUR

Today morning your appointed guide will meet you in the hotel. You will visit the Amer Fort, the 17th century capital city of Jaipur rulers. Ascending the fort on an elephant back will an experience. Also visit the City Palace and the Observatory. Evening is at leisure to let the exhilarating experience of today to seep in.

Day 09 - JAIPUR / UDAIPUR

After an early breakfast you will drive to Udaipur (7 hrs) and on arrival our representative will assist you at check in. Rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 10 - IN UDAIPUR

After breakfast you will proceed for a city tour with your guide. Start the day with the visit to the Jagdish Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Later you will be visiting the City Palace and Garden of Maids. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride in Lake Pichola docking at Jag Mandir for refreshments and for photo opportunity.

Day 11 - UDAIPUR / COCHIN

Morning: Transfer to airport to connect to Cochin via Mumbai. On arrival in Cochin - God’s own country, our representative meets and greets you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Evening you will have an introduction to the traditional dance form of Kerala - Kathakali! This dance form tells you the story from the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata. It takes a couple of hours for the artists to do their makeup. You will be witnessing their makeup session and see the mortal men transfer into the character they play.

Day 12 - IN COCHIN

Today morning you will be met by your guide for a tour of Cochin which despite being the commercial hub is a self assured combination of both the past and the present. It’s the m melting pot of history including, Dutch, Portuguese, Chinese and Jewish influence. Chinese fishing nets of Fort Kochi is an, unusual form of fishing — shore operated lift nets; St. Francis Church is the oldest European church in India that has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent. Also visit The Mattancherry Palace also known as Dutch Palace and the Jew Town including the Jewish Synagogue the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth nations. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the spice / fish market or to take a sunset cruise in the harbor.

Day 13 - COCHIN / KUMARAKOM

Morning drive through lush agricultural areas down the hills to reach Kumarakom (2 hrs). Kumarakom, a backwater destination, is home to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary. Upon arrival check in at your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or to indulge in some ayurveda massage.

Day 14 - IN KUMARAKOM

Morning is free to explore the local area or just relax amidst the verdant surroundings. Enjoy a half day cruise in the backwaters (you have the option of having an overnight stay in House Boat in lieu of hotel stay).

Day 15 - KUMARAKOM / MARAIKKULAM

After a relaxed breakfast drive to Mararikulam (1 hr). You can enjoy lazing on the tranquil beach or experience an ayurvedic massage where you can go for a whole body, mind and soul rejuvenation.

Day 16 - IN MARARIKKULAM

Day at leisure.

Day 17 - IN MARARIKKULAM

Day at leisure.

Day 18 - MARRIKKULAM / COCHIN / DEPART

In time you will be transferred to Cochin airport in time to connect your onward flight home…
