This magnificent 18 day holiday through Rajasthan, the land of the Royals and the Rajputs gives you an opportunity to stay in beautiful old Haveli’s and Forts, which have now been restored livingly into heritage hotels. The trip takes you to Mandawa, Bikaner, the desert city of Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, the City of Lakes Udaipur, Shahpura and then the must see trinity of Indian tourism the Golden Triangle of Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. This is a must recommended tour for people interested in the sights and sounds of the desert state of Rajasthan.

OUR PROGRAM



Day 01 - ARRIVE DELHI

On arrival by your international flight, meet and greet at the airport by our representative and transfer to hotel for immediate check in.

Day 02 - IN DELHI

After a relaxed breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Old Delhi visiting the Red Fort, Jama Masjid mosque and the bazaars of Chandni Chowk on a cycle rickshaw. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of New Delhi, designed by the eminent Sir Edward Lutyens. Drive past the India Gate, Rajpath and bustling Connaught Place. A visit is also made to Qutab Minar, essentially a massive tower built to proclaim the arrival of Islam in the 11th century, Humayun’s tomb which is considered to be the precursor to Taj Mahal and a carpet emporium.

Day 03 - DRIVE DELHI TO MANDAWA

After an early breakfast you drive to Mandawa and on arrival, check in at hotel. Rest of your day free is for independent activities.

Day 04 - IN MANDAWA

Today you will visit some of the intricate and beautifully painted havelis of Mandawa and surrounding areas. The small market town of Mandawa has more of a rural Rajasthani village feel and dozens of decorated Shekhawati havelis.

Day 05 - DRIVE MANDAWA TO BIKANER

Today morning drive to desert city of Bikaner en-route visiting some more beautiful Rajasthani havelis. On your arrival in Bikaner you will be assisted by our representative for your hotel check in. Rest of your afternoon is at leisure.

Day 06 - IN BIKANER

After a leisurely breakfast your guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of Bikaner including the Junagarh Fort, Museum and Camel breeding farm. The imposing Junagarh fort was built between 1589 and 1594 by Raja Rai Singh, one of the trusted Rajputs general of the Akbar. The main entrance of the fort is Sun Gate. The fort encompasses many places amongst which the most spectacular ones are the Moon Mahal, and Flower Palace both ornated with carved panels and mirrors and Karan Mahal, Karan Mahal was built in remembrance of the celebration of the grand victory over Aurangzeb.

Day 07 - DRIVE BIKANER TO JAISALMER

After an early breakfast you would be driving to Jaisalmer (6 hrs) on way visiting the famous rat temple at Deshnoke. The 600 year old temple dedicated to Karni Mata, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The Temple has huge intricately carved silver gates denoted by Maharaja Ganga Singh. The Temple plays host to thousand of rats that form the major attraction here. Welcome to the Golden city of Jaisalmer. On arrival at hotel you will be assisted by us for your Hotel check in. Rest of your day is at your own leisure.

Day 08 - IN JAISALMER

Today morning proceed for a city tour with the guide covering the majestic Jaisalmer Fort. The fort is still the home to a large mass of population making it perhaps the only inhabited fort in the world. Beautiful carved havelis like Nathmal ji ki haveli, Salim Singh ki haveli and most intricately designed Patwon ki haveli. Also visit the Gadai Sagar Lake. Late afternoon take a jeep ride upto the vast expanse of Sam Dunes. End the day with a short camel ride in the desert with a beautiful sun set.

Day 09 - DRIVE JAISALMER TO JODHPUR

After a leisurely breakfast you will drive to Jodhpur (6 hrs) and on arrival, our representative will assist you at the time of check in. Rest of the day is at your leisure to visit the colourful bazaars.

Day 10 - IN JODHPUR

In the morning, your appointed guide will take you on a city tour of Jodhpur encompassing Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant Thada. At the edge of the Thar Desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. The Mehrangarh fort is one of the most impressive and formidable structures. Invincible from the outside, the fort has four gates approached by a winding road. The cenotaphs of Jaswant Thada, the burial ground of Jodhpur Royalty is worth a visit.This afternoon you will undertake a jeep safari to the Bishnoi village. The Bishnoi’s are an eco friendly sect of Hindu religion and they worship the black buck, which roams around the village. The “high” point of the trip is the opium ceremony with the village elders to get their blessings.

Day 11 - DRIVE JODHPUR TO UDAIPUR VIA RANAKPUR

Today morning you drive to the lake city of Udaipur (6 hrs) and on the way visit the remarkable 15th century Jain temple complex at Ranakpur. Even though they are over 500 years old, the temples here are superbly preserved in a near-perfect condition. The most distinctive features are the 29 halls which are supported by 1444 pillars, of which no two are exactly alike. On arrival in Udaipur, check in at hotel. Rest of your day is at leisure.

Day 12 - IN UDAIPUR

After breakfast you will proceed for a city tour with your guide. Start the day with the visit to the Jagdish Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Later you will be visiting the City Palace and Garden of Maids. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride in Lake Pichola docking at Jag Mandir for refreshments and for photo opportunity.

Day 13 - DRIVE UDAIPUR TO SHAHPURA

In the morning you drive to Shahpura (4 hrs) and on arrival check in at the Shahpura Bagh. Shahpura Bagh is the summer residence of the Royal family who host guests here and provides several unique options. One of them is a tribal fest that takes place every weekend and dedicated to a local deity, a mother goddess and hence there is a procession that takes place on Saturdays in the winter months. Another interesting activity is a visit to the Joshi family, the last known family of Phad painter for a demonstration of the art followed by a recital of story based on the ‘Phad’. Sunset at the Dhikola Fort, a drive to the family’s farm and visits to the very photogenic town are some of the activities to fill your days here, if you are not tempted to take advantage of the spectacular pool to relax and enjoy the sun.

Day 14 - DRIVE SHAHPURA TO JAIPUR

Today after breakfast you drive to Jaipur (4 hrs) and on arrival you are assisted by our representative at the time of hotel check in. Rest of your day is for independent activities. If however you prefer to be on the move, we recommend a walking tour of the city or watching a bollywood movie at the famous Raj Mandir theatre.

Day 15 - DRIVE JAISALMER TO JODHPURIN JAIPUR

Today morning your appointed guide will meet you in the hotel. You will visit the Amer Fort, the 17th century capital city of Jaipur rulers. Ascending the fort on an elephant back will an experience. Also visit the City Palace and the Observatory. Your evening is at leisure to let the exhilarating experience of today to seep in.

Day 16- DRIVE JAIPUR TO AGRA VIA FATEHPUR SIKRI

After an early breakfast you drive to Agra the city of Taj Mahal (5 hrs) en-route visit the deserted city also called the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri. Worth visiting is the tomb of Saint Salimuddin Chisti. On arrival in Agra you are assisted at the time of check in. Rest of the day is at leisure. Today evening you might want to watch the show “Mohabbat E Taj” (Love of Taj), a show depicting the love of Shah Jehan for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal for whom he built the monument of love - Taj Mahal.

Day 17 - IN AGRA

Early in the morning your guide will pick you up for the most awaited visit to the world famous and on of the seven wonders of the world - TAJ MAHAL. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder! Probably for Taj Mahal, the axiom is just the other way round. The Taj is the beauty personified! The Taj displays its different moods through its varied shades. The Taj has as many shades as any kind of beauty can ever have! It is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening, golden when the moon shines and the intermediary variants during different hours of the day and during different seasons in a year.Return back to hotel for breakfast. Later visit the Agra Fort built by four generation of Mughal Emperors who occupied this fort as their capital city. Visit the Diwan-E-Aam (public audience) and Diwan-E-khas (private audience) along with the residential quarters and Musamman Burj where Emperor Shah Jehan was held captive during his last days by his son Aurangazeb.Your afternoon is free to visit an emporium to check out some marble artifacts.

Day 18 - DRIVE AGRA TO DELHI - DEPART

After a relaxed breakfast drive to Delhi (4 hrs) and on arrival you will be transferred to a city hotel for wash and change (lobby use). The rest of the day is at leisure for last minute packing / shopping before you are transferred to airport to connect your onward flight…
