Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, is in Southern Asia. It is an island country in the Indian Ocean, south of India. This colorful collection reveals its richness and beauty, and the intensity of the affection it evokes in its visitors.
Head for the rolling hills to escape the heat of the plains in the cool of tea plantations. The entire island is teeming with bird life, and exotics like elephants and leopards are not uncommon. To top it all off, the people are friendly, the food is delicious and costs are low. Climate is mostly wet throughout the year; northeast monsoon (December to March); southwest monsoon (June to October). The food is very cheap generally, with a cheap meal costing about a dollar. The most expensive, tourist-orientated places seldom charge more than ten dollars. There are many upscale restaurants to choose from in the city of Colombo. There are many fine dining restaurants at the 5-star hotels which offer both Local and International cuisine
Arrive Colombo airport, meet and greet at the airport and transfer to Kandy. En-route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Pinnawala – which is a home to about 60 Elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. Also, accompany the Elephants to a river close by to see them having their daily baths. In the evening visit the temple of the tooth relic and witness a cultural show. Overnight at hotel.
